QUICK LESSONS:
Be generous when giving gifts
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of generosity when giving gifts. The Prophet gave Ali a silk suit as a gift, but upon seeing the signs of anger on his face, Ali chose to tear it up and distribute it among his wives instead. This teaches us that we should be generous with our gifts and not begrudge others for receiving them. We should also be mindful of how our actions may affect others; even if we are not intending to hurt someone's feelings, our actions can still have an impact on them. Additionally, this hadith shows us that we should think carefully before making decisions that could potentially hurt someone else's feelings or cause them distress.
