Sahih al-Bukhari 5748 (Book 76, Hadith 63) #5514
The Practice of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

SUMMARY: This hadith explains the practice of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) of reciting certain verses from the Quran and then blowing on his hands and passing them over his face and body when going to bed or when he was ill.

Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever Allah's Messenger went to bed, he used to recite Surat-al-Ikhlas, Surat-al-Falaq and Surat-an- Nas and then blow on his palms and pass them over his face and those parts of his body that his hands could reach. And when he fell ill, he used to order me to do like that for him.

QUICK LESSONS:
Follow practices set by Prophet Muhammad PBUH ; recite certain verses from the Quran regularly in our daily lives for spiritual wellbeing ; blow onto your hands after reciting those verses .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains a practice that Prophet Muhammad PBUH used to do whenever he went to bed or fell ill. He would recite three chapters from the Quran; namely ‘Surah Al Ikhlas’, ‘Surah Al Falaq’ and ‘Surah An Nas’. After reciting these chapters he would blow onto his hands and pass them over his face as well as other parts of his body that were within reach. This is a practice that Muslims can follow in order to seek protection from Allah SWT against any harm or evil eye. It is also a reminder for us to recite these three chapters regularly in our daily lives as they are very important for our spiritual wellbeing.
