QUICK LESSONS:
Take precautions when dealing with food items contaminated by animals or insects; do not waste food unnecessarily as long as it is safe for consumption.

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith narrated by Maimuna, we learn about how to handle food when a mouse falls into it. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was asked what should be done if a mouse falls into butter fat and dies. He replied that the mouse and the surrounding butter fat should be thrown away but that it is permissible to eat any other remaining butter fat. This hadith teaches us an important lesson in hygiene; even if something appears safe to eat, we must take precautions when dealing with food items that have been contaminated by animals or insects. We must also remember not to waste food unnecessarily as long as it is safe for consumption.
