Follow Islamic guidelines when slaughtering animals for consumption

This hadith narrated by Asma' states that it is permissible to eat horse meat in Islam. During the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad, a horse was slaughtered and eaten while they were at Medina. This shows that eating horse meat is allowed according to Islamic teachings and laws. It should be noted that the slaughter must be done according to Islamic guidelines for it to be considered halal or permissible. The Prophet Muhammad himself ate the horse meat which further emphasizes its permissibility in Islam.
