EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the time when the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ visited a young tailor’s house. The tailor presented him with a dish of Tharid which is made up of bread and meat or vegetables. Anas ibn Malik, who was present at this gathering, started picking pieces of gourd from the dish to put before the Prophet ﷺ. Since then he has always loved eating gourd as it reminds him of that day with his beloved prophet ﷺ. This hadith teaches us that we should be generous in our hospitality towards others and serve them with whatever we have available even if it is not much because it will be appreciated by those who receive it no matter what their status in life may be. It also teaches us that we should show respect for all people regardless of their social standing or wealth as everyone deserves kindness and respect from one another just like how our beloved prophet ﷺ showed kindness to this young tailor by accepting his humble offering without hesitation or complaint.
