Sahih al-Bukhari 5289 (Book 68, Hadith 38) #5067
Keeping Promises Despite Difficulties

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) took an oath to abstain from his wives for a month, but due to his leg being sprained, he stayed in the attic room of his for 29 days.

Narrated Anas bin Malik: Allah's Messenger took an oath that he would abstain from his wives, and at that time his leg had been sprained (dislocated). So he stayed in the Mashruba (an attic room) of his for 29 days. Then he came down, and they (the people) said, "O Allah's Messenger ! You took an oath to abstain from your wives for one month". He said, "The month is of twenty nine days".

QUICK LESSONS:
Keep your promises even when it gets difficult or challenging

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's commitment to keeping promises despite difficulties. In this hadith, it is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad took an oath to abstain from his wives for one month. However, during this time period, he sprained his leg and was unable to move around easily. Despite this difficulty, he still kept up with his promise and stayed in the attic room of his house for 29 days instead of 30 days as originally promised. This teaches us that we should always strive to keep our promises even if there are obstacles in our way or if it becomes difficult for us. We should also remember that Allah rewards those who are sincere and honest with their words and deeds.
