Divorce After Dowry Returned

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) ordered Thabit to divorce his wife after she returned the garden that was given to her as a dowry.

Narrated 'Ikrima: The sister of 'Abdullah bin Ubai narrated (the above narration, 197) with the addition that the Prophet said to Thabit's wife, "Will you return his garden?" She said, "Yes," and returned it, and (then) the Prophet ordered Thabit to divorce her.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about a man named Thabit who gave his wife a garden as part of her dowry. However, when they got divorced, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ asked Thabit's wife if she would return the garden. She agreed and returned it to him. As a result of this action, the Prophet ﷺ then ordered Thabit to divorce his wife. This hadith teaches us that when someone gives something away in marriage or as part of their dowry agreement and then gets divorced from their partner later on, they should return what was given away in order for justice to be served properly. It also shows us that we should always strive for fairness and justice in all our dealings with others regardless of our relationship with them or any other factors involved.
