Visiting Wives After Asr Prayer

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would visit his wives after the Asr prayer and one day he stayed with Hafsa longer than usual.

Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever Allah's Messenger finished his 'Asr prayer, he would enter upon his wives and stay with one of them. One day he went to Hafsa and stayed with her longer than usual.
حَدَّثَنَا فَرْوَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ إِذَا انْصَرَفَ مِنَ الْعَصْرِ دَخَلَ عَلَى نِسَائِهِ، فَيَدْنُو مِنْ إِحْدَاهُنَّ، فَدَخَلَ عَلَى حَفْصَةَ، فَاحْتَبَسَ أَكْثَرَ مَا كَانَ يَحْتَبِسُ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's (PBUH) practice of visiting his wives after the Asr prayer. It is narrated by Aisha that whenever the Prophet finished his afternoon prayer, he would enter upon one of his wives and stay with her for a while. On one occasion he stayed with Hafsa for a longer period than usual. This hadith teaches us to be mindful of our relationships and to take time out of our day to spend quality time with those we love. It also shows us that even though we may have many responsibilities in life, it is important to make sure that we are taking care of our relationships as well. We should strive to be mindful of how much time we are spending with each person in our lives so that no one feels neglected or taken for granted.
