Sahih al-Bukhari 5076 (Book 67, Hadith 14) #4860
Castration as an Alternative to Marriage

SUMMARY: The Prophet advised Abu Huraira to get himself castrated if he was afraid of committing illegal sexual intercourse and could not afford to marry.

Narrated Abu Huraira: I said, "O Allah's Messenger ! I am a young man and I am afraid that I may commit illegal sexual intercourse and I cannot afford to marry". He kept silent, and then repeated my question once again, but he kept silent. I said the same (for the third time) and he remained silent. Then repeated my question (for the fourth time), and only then the Prophet said, "O Abu Huraira! The pen has dried after writing what you are going to confront. So (it does not matter whether you) get yourself castrated or not".

QUICK LESSONS:
Practice self-control and remain chaste before marriage in order to maintain religious values and honor. Take responsibility for your own actions rather than relying on others or external factors such as money or resources in order to stay away from sinning.

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) is advising Abu Huraira on how to avoid committing illegal sexual intercourse. He suggests that if one cannot afford marriage, they should consider getting themselves castrated. This is a form of self-control known as Istibra', which involves abstaining from any kind of sexual activity until marriage. It is important for Muslims to practice self-control and remain chaste before marriage in order to maintain their religious values and honor. This hadith also teaches us that it is better for us to take responsibility for our own actions rather than relying on others or external factors such as money or resources in order to stay away from sinning.
