Sahih al-Bukhari 5031 (Book 66, Hadith 53) #4812
The Power of Memorizing the Qur'an

SUMMARY: Knowing the Qur'an by heart is like owning tied camels, if you keep them tied, you will be able to control them but if you let go of them, they will run away.

Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah's Messenger said, "The example of the person who knows the Qur'an by heart is like the owner of tied camels. If he keeps them tied, he will control them, but if he releases them, they will run away".

QUICK LESSONS:
Take time out from one’s day to learn and understand what is written in The Holy Book -The Quran ; Use The Holy Book as a guide for life ; Stay faithful towards Allah & His teachings ; Control & manage one’s life through knowledge & understanding .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith explains the importance of memorizing the Quran. It compares a person who knows the Quran by heart to an owner of tied camels. If he keeps them tied, he can control and manage them but if he releases them, they will run away from him. This means that when we know and understand what is written in the Quran we can use it as a guide for our lives and stay on track with our faith. However, if we do not take time to learn it or understand it then it would be difficult for us to stay on track with our faith because we would not have any guidance from Allah's words in our lives. Therefore this hadith encourages us to take time out of our day to learn and understand what is written in the Quran so that we can use it as a guide for our lives and stay on track with Allah's teachings.
