Reciting Surahs for Protection Before Bedtime

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) would recite three surahs before going to bed and then rub his hands over his body for protection.

Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever the Prophet went to bed every night, he used to cup his hands together and blow over it after reciting Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas, and then rub his hands over whatever parts of his body he was able to rub, starting with his head, face and front of his body. He used to do that three times.

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek protection from Allah through reciting His words
EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ taught us a special way of protecting ourselves before we go to sleep. Every night he would recite three surahs from the Quran - Surat Al-Ikhlas, Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas - and then blow into his hands and rub them over his head, face and body. He did this three times in order to protect himself from any harm or danger that may come during the night. This is an important lesson for us all; that we should take time out of our day to seek protection from Allah through reciting His words. We can also use this as a reminder to be mindful of our actions throughout the day so that we can be sure that we are living according to His will.
