Seeking Blessings from Allah in Sickness

SUMMARY: Reciting Mu'awwidhat (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An-Nas) and blowing breath over the body is a way to seek blessings from Allah when one is sick.

Narrated 'Aisha: Whenever Allah's Messenger became sick, he would recite Mu'awwidhat (Surat Al-Falaq and Surat An- Nas) and then blow his breath over his body. When he became seriously ill, I used to recite (these two surahs) and rub his hands over his body hoping for its blessings.

EXPLANATIONS:
When one falls ill or becomes sick, it is important to seek blessings from Allah. According to the hadith narrated by 'Aisha, whenever Prophet Muhammad ﷺ became sick he would recite two surahs of the Quran known as Mu’awwidhat which are Surah Al Falaq and Surah An Nas. After reciting these two surahs he would blow his breath over his body in order to receive blessings from Allah. This same practice was also done by Aisha when Prophet Muhammad ﷺ became seriously ill. This hadith teaches us that we should always turn towards Allah for help and guidance even during times of sickness or illness as He alone can provide us with true healing and comfort.
