Sahih al-Bukhari 4397 (Book 64, Hadith 420) #4193
Performing Tawaf After Assumption of Ihram

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) instructed Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari to perform the Tawaf around the Ka'ba and between Safa and Marwa after assuming Ihram for Hajj.

Narrated Abu Musa Al-Ash'ari: I came to the Prophet at a place called Al-Batha'. The Prophet said, "Did you assume the Ihram for Hajj?" I said, "Yes," He said, "How did you express your intention (for performing Hajj)? " I said, "Labaik (ie I am ready) to assume the Ihram with the same intention as that of Allah's Messenger ". The Prophet said, "Perform the Tawaf around the Ka'ba and between Safa and Marwa, and then finish your Ihram". So I performed the Tawaf around the Ka'ba and between Safa and Marwa and then I came to a woman from the tribe of Qais who removed the lice from my head.

QUICK LESSONS:
Have an intention in your heart when you are performing any religious rituals or obligations .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about performing a ritual called Tawaf after assuming a sacred state known as Ihram for Hajj. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ instructed Abu Musa Al-Ash’ari to express his intention to assume the Ihram with the same intention as that of Allah's Messenger ﷺ. He then asked him to perform the Tawaf around the Ka’ba and between Safa and Marwa before finishing his Ihram. This hadith teaches us that it is important to have an intention in our hearts when we are performing any religious rituals or obligations so that we can gain maximum benefit from them. It also teaches us about being humble by seeking help from others when needed; in this case, Abu Musa sought help from a woman who removed lice from his head.
