Sahih al-Bukhari 4232 (Book 64, Hadith 270) #4044
Recognizing Voices and Houses Through Reciting Qur'an

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) was able to recognize the voices of a group of people, Al-Ashariyin, when they recited the Qur'an and could identify their houses by listening to them.

Narrated Abu Burda: Abu Musa said, "The Prophet said, "I recognize the voice of the group of Al- Ashariyin, when they recite the Qur'an, when they enter their homes at night, and I recognize their houses by (listening) to their voices when they are reciting the Qur'an at night although I have not seen their houses when they came to them during the day time. Amongst them is Hakim who, on meeting the cavalry or the enemy, used to say to them (ie the enemy). My companions order you to wait for them'. "

QUICK LESSONS:
Be devoted in your recitation of Quran .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the Prophet's ability to recognize people's voices when they were reciting the Quran. He was also able to identify their houses by listening to them recite at night even though he had not seen their homes during the day time. One example given is Hakim who would tell enemies that his companions ordered them to wait for them when meeting cavalry or enemies. This hadith teaches us that we should be devoted in our recitation of Quran as it can be recognized from far away and it also shows us how powerful our words can be in influencing others, even if we are not present with them physically.
