The Fear Prayer and Battle of Al-Qarad

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) offered two raka'at of the Fear prayer when he met a group of people from Ghatafan, and Salama fought in the company of the Prophet (ﷺ) on the day of al-Qarad.

Jabir added: "The Prophet set out for the battle of Dhat-ur-Riqa at a place called Nakhl and he met a group of people from Ghatafan, but there was no clash (between them); the people were afraid of each other and the Prophet offered the two raka'at of the Fear prayer". Narrated Salama: "I fought in the company of the Prophet on the day of al-Qarad".

QUICK LESSONS:
Have faith in Allah even during difficult times; turn to Him for help no matter what situation you are facing; offer prayers when feeling fear or danger; fight alongside with others if needed .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about an incident that happened during the battle of Dhat-ur-Riqa at a place called Nakhl. When the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) met a group from Ghatafan, both sides were afraid to fight each other so he offered two raka'at for what is known as 'The Fear Prayer'. This prayer is done when one feels fear or danger in order to seek protection from Allah. Later on, Salama fought alongside with him in another battle called al-Qarad. These events show us how important it is to have faith in Allah even during difficult times and that we should always turn to Him for help no matter what situation we are facing.
