Sahih al-Bukhari 4082 (Book 64, Hadith 126) #3901
Migration for Allah's Cause and Reward

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the reward of those who migrate for Allah's cause and how Mus'ab bin 'Umar was martyred on the day of Uhud.

Narrated Khabbab: We migrated with the Prophet for Allah's Cause, so our reward became due with Allah. Some of us passed away (ie died) without enjoying anything from their reward, and one of them was Mus'ab bin 'Umar who was killed (ie martyred) on the day of Uhud. He did not leave behind except a sheet of striped woolen cloth. If we covered his head with it, his feet became naked, and if we covered his feet with it, his head became naked. The Prophet said to us, "Cover his head with it and put Idhkhir (ie a kind of grass) over his feet," or said, "Put some Idhkhir over his feet". But some of us have got their fruits ripened, and they are collecting them.

QUICK LESSONS:
Migrate for Allah's cause, Do good deeds

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the rewards that come with migrating for Allah's cause. It tells us that some people may not get to enjoy their rewards in this life, such as Mus'ab bin 'Umar who was martyred on the day of Uhud. However, it also tells us that some people do get to enjoy their rewards in this life, as they are collecting them. This hadith teaches us that we should strive to do good deeds and be patient with whatever outcome comes our way; whether it be in this life or the hereafter. We should also remember those who have sacrificed their lives for a greater cause and take inspiration from them.
