The Consequences of Begging

SUMMARY: Begging is discouraged and it will have dire consequences in the afterlife.

Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: The Prophet said, "If one of you would keep begging (of people) until he meets Allah (on the Day of Resurrection) his face will be without a shred of flesh". Al-Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Rely on Allah for sustenance instead of begging from people

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith warns us against begging from people, as it is not a desirable trait. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that if someone keeps begging until they meet Allah on the Day of Resurrection, their face will be without a shred of flesh. This means that they will be punished for their actions in the afterlife, and this punishment could take many forms. It could mean physical pain or humiliation, or even spiritual suffering. Whatever form it takes, this hadith reminds us to stay away from begging and instead rely on Allah for our sustenance and provision. We should also remember that whatever we do in this life has consequences in the hereafter; so we should strive to do good deeds and avoid bad ones so that we can reap rewards instead of punishments when we meet Allah on the Day of Judgement.
