Living Life Like a Stranger or Traveler

SUMMARY: This hadith encourages people to live life as if they are strangers or travelers, and to do good deeds while they are healthy and alive.

'Abdullah bin 'Umar (May allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah took hold of my shoulders and said, "Be in the world like a stranger or a wayfarer". Ibn 'Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) used to say: "When you survive till the evening, do not expect to live until the morning; and when you survive until the morning, do not expect to live until the evening; (do good deeds) when you are in good health before you fall sick, and (do good deeds) as long as you are alive before death strikes". Al- Bukhari.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about living life in the world like a stranger or traveler. It encourages us to not take anything for granted, such as our health and life, because we never know when it will end. We should make the most of our time here on earth by doing good deeds while we can. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ took hold of Abdullah bin 'Umar's shoulders and said these words to him, emphasizing the importance of this message. He also advised us that when we survive until evening, not to expect that we will live until morning; and when we survive until morning, not to expect that we will live until evening; so it is important for us to do good deeds while we have the chance before death strikes us unexpectedly.
