The Value of Knowing What the Prophet Knew

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) delivered a sermon in which he said that if people knew what he knew, they would laugh less and cry more.

Anas bin Malik (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah delivered a Khutbah to us the like of which I had never heard from him before. In the course of the Khutbah, he said: "If you knew what I know, you would laugh little and weep much". Thereupon those present covered their faces and began to sob. Al- Bukhari and Muslim.

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for knowledge

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is teaching us about the value of knowledge. He says that if we knew what he knows, we would laugh less and cry more. This means that knowledge can be a powerful thing; it can make us realize how small our problems are compared to other things in life. It can also make us appreciate how much we have been blessed with and how much work still needs to be done in order for us to reach our goals. Furthermore, it teaches us to take life seriously and not take things for granted as they may not always stay the same way forever. Lastly, it encourages us to strive for knowledge so that we may become better people who are able to help others around them as well as themselves.
