Anas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet said, "Allah says: ' When a slave of Mine draws near to Me a span, I draw near to him a cubit; and if he draws near to Me a cubit, I draw near to him a fathom. And if he comes to Me walking, I go to him running"'.. Al-Bukhari.

QUICK LESSONS:
Come closer to God through sincere worship & prayer.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith, narrated by Anas ibn Malik, speaks of the closeness of Allah to His slaves. It tells us that when a person comes near to Him in devotion and sincerity, He will draw even closer to them. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that if a person comes near to Allah with a span, He will come near them with a cubit; if they come near Him with a cubit, He will come near them with a fathom; and if they come walking towards Him, He will go running towards them. This shows us how much love and mercy Allah has for His slaves - no matter how small their efforts may be in coming close to Him through worship or prayer, He is always willing to meet them halfway or more! This hadith also teaches us the importance of having sincere intentions when we are worshipping or praying - it is not enough just going through the motions without any real feeling behind it. We must strive for true devotion and sincerity in order for our prayers and worship to be accepted by God.
