Running Away From One's Master Is Not Permissible

SUMMARY: The Prophet (ﷺ) taught that running away from one's master is not permissible and if a slave believes it is lawful, they are guilty of disbelief.

Jarir bin Abdullah (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Prophet said, "When the slave runs away from his master, his Salat (prayer) will not be accepted". Muslim. Another narration is: "He is guilty of disbelief (ie, in case he believes in the lawfulness of doing so)".

This hadith teaches us that running away from one’s master is not permissible in Islam. If a slave believes it is lawful to do so, then they are guilty of disbelief or kufr.
