Riyad as-Salihin 1758 (Book 17, Hadith 248) #38247
The Sinfulness of Passing in Front of Someone Praying

SUMMARY: It is sinful to pass in front of someone who is praying, and it would be better to wait for a long period of time than to do so.

Abul-Juhaim 'Abdullah bin Al-Harith (May Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah said, "If the person who passes in front of a praying person, realizes the enormity of the sinfulness of this act, it will have been better for him to wait forty than to pass in front of him". Al-Bukhari and Muslim. The narrator was not sure whether the Prophet said forty days, months or years.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect people when they are praying by not interrupting or disturbing them.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that it is wrong to pass in front of someone who is praying. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that if the person passing by realizes how bad this act is then they should wait for a long time before doing so. This shows us how important it is to respect people when they are praying and not interrupt them or disturb them. We should also be aware that Allah sees everything we do and will judge us accordingly. Therefore we must always strive to do what pleases Him and avoid anything which He has forbidden.
