QUICK LESSONS:
Make expiation for your mistakes and choose the best option available when taking an oath.

EXPLANATIONS:
An oath is a promise made to Allah or another person that something will be done or not done. In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ teaches us that if we take an oath and then realize that something else is better than what we promised in our oath, then we should make expiation for our oath and choose the better alternative. This means that if we have taken an oath to do something but later realize it was not a good idea or there is a better option available to us, then it is best to make up for our mistake by doing some form of expiation such as fasting or giving charity and choose the better option instead of sticking with what was promised in the original oath. This hadith teaches us about being honest with ourselves and others when making promises so that we can always strive towards doing what is best for everyone involved.
