The Power of Friday Prayers

SUMMARY: Taking a bath, purifying oneself, using oil and perfume, going to the mosque for Friday prayer and listening to the Imam silently will lead to forgiveness of sins.

Salman Al-Farisi (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah said, "If a man takes a bath on Friday, purifies himself thoroughly, uses oil and perfume which is available in the house, sets forth for the mosque, does not (forcibly) sit between two persons, offers the prayer that is prescribed for him and listens to the Imam silently, his sins between this Friday and the previous Friday will be forgiven". Al- Bukhari.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the power of Friday prayers. It encourages us to take a bath on Fridays before going for prayers in order to purify ourselves. We should also use oil and perfume which is available in our house as it adds more beauty and fragrance while praying. We should not forcefully sit between two persons but rather find an empty spot so that we can concentrate better during prayer time. We should listen attentively when the Imam is reciting or delivering his sermon as this will lead us towards forgiveness of our sins from last week until now.
