Prohibiting the Use of Wild Animal Skins

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) prohibited the use of the skins of wild animals for any purpose.

Abul-Malih on the authority of his father reported: The Messenger of Allah prohibited the use of the skins of wild animals. Abu Dawud, At-Tirmidhi and An- Nasa'i. Another narration in At-Tirmidhi is: The Messenger of Allah forbade the use of the skins of wild animals in making firash (ie, something to sit on or lie down on, such as cushions, pillows, covers, spreads, saddles, etc).
وعن أبى المليح عن أبيه ، رضى الله عنه ، أن رسول الله نهى عن جلود السباع‏.((رواه أبو داود والترمذي والنسائي)) و في رواية للترمذي: نهى عن جلود السباع أن تفترش.
