Sunan Ibn Majah 171 (Book) #37073
Reciting the Quran Without Understanding

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) warned that some people may recite the Quran but not truly understand it, and will pass through Islam without any real benefit.

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said: "The Messenger of Allah said: 'There are those who recite the Qur'an but it does not go any deeper than their collarbones. They will pass through Islam like an arrow passing through its target'."
