Visiting the Sick as an Act of Mercy

SUMMARY: Visiting an invalid person is an act of mercy and kindness that should be done with compassion.

Yahya related to me from Malik that he had heard from Jabir ibn Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When a man visits an invalid, he plunges into mercy to the extent that when he sits with him, it settles in him," or the like of that.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about the importance of visiting those who are ill or invalid. It encourages us to show mercy and kindness when we visit them. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said that when a person visits someone who is ill or invalid, they should do so with compassion and mercy in their hearts. This means that we should not just visit them out of obligation but rather out of love and care for them. We should make sure to be gentle with our words and actions when we are around them so as not to cause any further distress or pain for them. Furthermore, this hadith teaches us the importance of being kind to those who are less fortunate than us; it reminds us that even small acts such as visiting someone can have a great impact on their lives.
