Refusing to Go Near a Slave-Girl

SUMMARY: Uthman ibn Affan refused to go near a slave-girl he was given until her husband separated from her, and Ibn Amir compensated the husband for it.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Ibn Shihab that Abdullah ibn Amir gave Uthman ibn Affan a slave-girl who had a husband whom he had purchased at Basra. Uthman said, "I will not go near her until her husband separates from her". Ibn Amir compensated the husband and he separated from her.

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect Marriage, Be Kind To Others Financially If Needed .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of respecting marriage and not going near someone who is married. Uthman ibn Affan was given a slave girl who already had a husband, but he refused to go near her until the husband separated from her and was compensated for it. This shows that even though she was his property, he still respected the sanctity of marriage and did not want to interfere with it in any way. He also showed kindness by compensating the man for his loss so that he could move on with his life without any financial burden. This hadith teaches us that we should always respect marriage and never try to interfere in someone else's relationship or cause them harm in any way. We should also be kind towards others by helping them out financially if they are struggling due to our actions or decisions.
