The Equivalence of Praying in the Hijr and House

SUMMARY: Praying in the Hijr is the same as praying in the House.

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from his father that A'isha, umm al-muminin, said, "I do not mind whether I pray in the Hijr or in the House". (ie praying in the Hijr is the same as praying in the House).

TOPICS
prayer  *  house  *  hijr

QUICK LESSONS:
Strive for equality among people regardless of their social status or background; Treat everyone with respect and kindness; Worship Allah; Do not differentiate between places when it comes to prayer
EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is narrated by A'isha, umm al-muminin. It states that praying in the Hijr is equivalent to praying in the House. The Hijr refers to a semi-circular area located near Kaaba which was originally part of it but was later separated due to expansion works. This hadith teaches us that we should not differentiate between places when it comes to prayer and worshiping Allah as all places are equal before Him. We should also strive for equality among people regardless of their social status or background and treat everyone with respect and kindness.
