Musnad Ahmad 1166 (Book 5, Hadith 578) #34804
The Blessings of Visiting the Sick

SUMMARY: Visiting a sick person is an act of mercy and kindness that will be rewarded with the blessings of Paradise.

It was narrated from a man among the Ansar, from 'Ali (رضي الله عنه), that the Prophet said: "Whoever visits a sick person is walking amongst the fruits of Paradise. When he sits with him he is covered with mercy, and when he leaves him, seventy thousand angels are appointed to pray for forgiveness for him that day".
