Musnad Ahmad 887 (Book 5, Hadith 316) #34542
The Importance of Wudoo Before Sleep

SUMMARY: Wudoo should be done before sleeping.

It was narrated from 'Ali bin Abi Talib that the Prophet said: 'The anus, for the eye in another version of this report, it says, 'The eye, for the anus…’ which sounds more apt, is like the string that ties up a waterskin; whoever goes to sleep, let him do wudoo’".

This hadith teaches us that we should take care of our physical hygiene and cleanliness even when we are tired or sleepy. It also reminds us of our responsibility towards maintaining spiritual purity by performing wudoo regularly.
