Wearing Rings on Fingers Prohibited

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) forbade wearing rings on the middle finger and index finger.

It was narrated from 'Ali (رضي الله عنه) that The Messenger of Allah forbade wearing rings on this or this - the middle finger and the index finger, Jabir - ie, al-Ju'fi - said: It is the middle finger, no doubt about it.
حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ كُلَيْبٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بُرْدَةَ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ عَلِيٍّ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَهَى أَنْ يُتَخَتَّمَ فِي ذِهِ أَوْ ذِهْ الْوُسْطَى وَالسَّبَّابَةِ و قَالَ جَابِرٌ يَعْنِي الْجُعَفِيَّ هِيَ الْوُسْطَى لَا شَكَّ فِيهَا‏.‏
