The Consequences of False Dreams

SUMMARY: Lying about having a dream of the Prophet will be punished on the Day of Resurrection.

It was narrated from 'Ali bin Abi Talib (رضي الله عنه) that The Prophet said: "Whoever tells a lie about seeing me in his dream will be ordered to tie a grain of barley on the Day of Resurrection".
حَدَّثَنَا حُجَيْنٌ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى، عَنْ أَبِي عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ قَالَ مَنْ كَذَبَ عَلَيَّ فِي حُلْمِهِ كُلِّفَ عَقْدَ شَعِيرَةٍ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the consequences for lying about having a dream involving the Prophet. It was narrated by Ali bin Abi Talib that The Prophet said that whoever tells a lie about seeing him in his dream will be ordered to tie a grain of barley on the Day of Resurrection. This means that they will be punished for their lie and have to do something difficult as punishment. On the Day of Resurrection, everyone will be judged according to their deeds and those who lied will have to face consequences for it. This hadith teaches us not to tell lies and also reminds us that we should always strive to do good deeds so we can receive rewards from Allah on the day when all our actions are judged.
