Prayer on Eid and Wudu of Uthman bin Affan

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the importance of prayer on Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, and how 'Uthman bin 'Affan performed wudu.

It was narrated that Abu 'Ubaid said: I saw 'Ali and 'Uthman (رضي الله عنه)on the day of (Eid) al-fitr and (Eid) al-Adhaa; they prayed, then when they finished they reminded the people. I heard them saying. The Messenger of Allah forbade fasting on these two days, It was narrated from 'Ata' bin Yazeed al-Junda'i that he heard Humran the freed slave of 'Uthman bin 'Affan (رضي الله عنه), say. I saw Ameer al-Mu'mineen 'Uthman do wudoo’; he poured water onto his hands three times, then he rinsed his nose three times and rinsed his mouth three times. and he mentioned the Hadeeth, similar to the Hadeeth of Ma'mar.
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ الْحَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَارِظٍ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ، قَالَ شَهِدْتُ عَلِيًّا وَعُثْمَانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمَا فِي يَوْمِ الْفِطْرِ وَالنَّحْرِ يُصَلِّيَانِ ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفَانِ فَيُذَكِّرَانِ النَّاسَ فَسَمِعْتُهُمَا يَقُولَانِ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ عَنْ صَوْمِ هَذَيْنِ الْيَوْمَيْنِ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَكْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ شِهَابٍ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ الْجُنْدَعِيِّ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ حُمْرَانَ مَوْلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ رَأَيْتُ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ عُثْمَانَ يَتَوَضَّأُ فَأَهْرَاقَ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ اسْتَنْثَرَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ وَمَضْمَضَ ثَلَاثًا وَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ مِثْلَ مَعْنَى حَدِيثِ مَعْمَرٍ‏.‏

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of prayer on two special days in Islam - Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha. It was narrated by Abu Ubaid that he saw Ali and Uthman praying on these days, then reminding people that Prophet Muhammad forbade fasting on these two days. It was also narrated from Ata' bin Yazeed al-Junda'i that he heard Humran say he saw Ameer Al Mu'mineen Uthman do wudoo; pouring water onto his hands three times, then rinsing his nose three times and rinsing his mouth three times. These actions are important for Muslims to perform before they pray as it is a sign of cleanliness before Allah. This hadith teaches us to remember Allah's commands even during special occasions like Eids when we are celebrating with our families or friends. We should not forget our duties towards Allah even when we are happy or busy with other activities.
