EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of wearing silk. It was narrated by Suwaid bin Ghafalah that 'Umar addressed the people and said that the Messenger of Allah forbade wearing silk except for a certain width which he gestured with his hand. This means that it is not permissible to wear silk clothing unless it is within a certain width as specified by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). The lesson from this hadith is that we should follow the teachings of our beloved Prophet and abide by his instructions even if we don't understand why they are necessary. We should also strive to dress modestly and avoid extravagance or showiness when it comes to our clothing choices.
