QUICK LESSONS:
Follow the teachings from Prophet Muhammad PBUH regarding modesty when it comes to clothing items such as silks

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of wearing silk. It was narrated by Qatadah that he heard Abu 'Uthman an-Nahdi say that the letter of 'Umar came to them when they were either at Adharba'ijan or Syria, saying that the Messenger of Allah forbade wearing silk except for two fingers. This means that it is not permissible to wear a full garment made out of silk, but it is permissible to have a small border or trimming on clothing made out of other materials. This hadith teaches us about modesty as well as being mindful with our spending on clothing items which are considered luxurious. It also teaches us to be content with what we have instead of striving for more than what we need.
