Musnad Ahmad 358 (Book 2, Hadith 262) #34037
Moving Before Sunrise

SUMMARY: The Prophet ﷺ of Allah differed from the mustrikoort by moving on before the sun rose.

It was narrated that 'Amr bin Maimoon said: 'Umar (رضي الله عنه) prayed Fajr when he was in Jam'. Abu Dawood said: We were with 'Umar in Jamo, and he said: The mustrikoort used not to move on until the sun rose, and they would say: Shine, (Mount) Thabeer. The Prophet of Allah differed from them and moved on before the sun rose.

QUICK LESSONS:
Take initiative for a good cause; Do what is right and just; Differ from others if necessary; Strive for justice even if unpopular opinion or tradition dictates otherwise.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about how the Prophet Muhammad differed from the mustrikoort in terms of when they would move on. The mustrikoort used to wait until sunrise before they moved, and they would say "Shine, Mount Thabeer". However, the Prophet Muhammad moved on before sunrise. This hadith teaches us that we should not be afraid to differ from others if it is for a good cause and that we should not be afraid to take initiative even if it means going against what others are doing. It also teaches us that we should always strive to do what is right and just even if it means going against popular opinion or tradition.
