Sunan Ibn Majah 4309 (Book 37, Hadith 210) #33665
Reviving Punished Souls with Water

SUMMARY: The hadith explains that those who are punished in Hell will be brought to the banks of the rivers of Paradise and will be revived with water.

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed that the Messenger of Allah said: "As for the people of Hell, who are its people (ie, its permanent residents), they will neither die nor live therein. But there are some people who will be punished with fire because of their sins, whom it will kill, then when they have become like coal, permission will be granted for intercession for them. They will be brought, group by group, and scattered on the banks of the rivers of Paradise. It will be said: 'O people of Paradise, pour water on them.’ Then they will grow like seeds carried by a flood (ie, quickly)". A man among the people said: It is as if the Messenger of Allah has been in the desert".

QUICK LESSONS:
Have faith in Allah's mercy no matter how grave your sins may be; strive towards conveying your faith with passion and clarity so others can benefit from it too; repent for your sins if you have committed any; never give up hope in Allah's mercy .

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks about those who have committed sins and are punished in Hell. They will not die nor live there, but they will be brought out and scattered on the banks of the rivers of Paradise. It is then said that people from Paradise should pour water on them, which would revive them like seeds carried by a flood. This shows us that Allah is merciful even to those who have sinned, as He gives them a chance to repent and start anew after being punished for their sins. Furthermore, it also teaches us that we should never give up hope in Allah's mercy no matter how grave our sins may be.

The hadith also mentions a man among the people saying it was as if Prophet Muhammad was present in the desert when he narrated this hadith; this shows us how vivid his descriptions were and how deeply he felt about what he was narrating. It serves as an example for all believers to strive towards conveying their faith with such passion and clarity so others can benefit from it too.
