Seeking Recognition and its Consequences

SUMMARY: Allah will make known the true intentions of those who seek recognition.

It was narrated from Jundab that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever wants to be heard of, Allah will make him heard of, and whoever wants to be seen, Allah will show him (ie, expose his real motives)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Have pure intentions when doing any action so that it is accepted by Allah

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks to the importance of having pure intentions in our actions. It warns us that if we are seeking recognition or fame, Allah will expose our true motives and make them known to others. We should strive to do good deeds for the sake of pleasing Allah, not for any other reason. If we are sincere in our actions, then Allah will reward us with His mercy and blessings. On the other hand, if we are insincere in our actions then Allah may expose us and show others what our real motives were. Therefore it is important that we always have pure intentions when doing any action so that it is accepted by Allah and He rewards us accordingly.
