Sunan Ibn Majah 4206 (Book 37, Hadith 107) #33562
Seeking Recognition from Allah

SUMMARY: Allah will make known the true motives and intentions of those who seek recognition.

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri that the Prophet said: "Whoever wants to be heard of, Allah will make him heard of, and whoever wants to be seen, Allah will show him (ie, make known to the people his true motives and intentions)".

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek approval from God first before others

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith teaches us that if we want to be heard or seen, we should seek recognition from Allah rather than people. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is reminding us that it is only Allah who can truly know our motives and intentions, so it is important to always strive for His approval first. We should not be seeking recognition from people because they cannot truly understand our inner thoughts and feelings. Instead, we should focus on pleasing Allah by doing good deeds and following His commands. In this way, He will make us known to the people in a positive light.

This hadith also encourages us to have humility in all aspects of life; even if we are successful or well-known among people, we must remember that it was only through the grace of Allah that this was possible. We must remain humble and grateful for all blessings bestowed upon us by Him alone. Furthermore, this hadith reminds us not to become too proud or boastful about our accomplishments as these traits are disliked by Him; instead, we should use any success as an opportunity to thank Him for His guidance and mercy towards us.
