Sahih al-Bukhari 3509 (Book 61, Hadith 19) #3351
The Sin of Falsely Claiming Descent or Attributing Falsehoods to the Prophet (ﷺ)

SUMMARY: Lying is wrong, especially when it involves falsely claiming to be someone's son or attributing something to the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) that he did not say.

Narrated Wathila bin Al-Asqa: Allah's Messenger said, "Verily, one of the worst lies is to claim falsely to be the son of someone other than one's real father, or to claim to have had a dream one has not had, or to attribute to me what I have not said".
