Sunan Ibn Majah 3931 (Book 36, Hadith 6) #33286
Sacredness of Life, Wealth & Land

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was reminding the people of the importance of their lives, wealth and land, and asked Allah to bear witness to this.

It was narrated that Abu Sa’eed said: "The Messenger of Allah said, during the Farewell Pilgrimage: 'Is not the most sacred of your days this day, is not the most sacred of your months this month, is not the most sacred of your lands this land? Your blood and your wealth are as sacred to you as this day of yours in this month of yours. Have I not conveyed (the message)?’ They said: 'Yes". He said: 'O Allah, bear witness.’"

QUICK LESSONS:
Respect your own life & others', Respect other people's property/wealth/land

EXPLANATIONS:
In this hadith, the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was reminding his companions about the sacredness of life, wealth and land. He said that these three things are as sacred as this day in this month. He asked Allah to bear witness to what he said so that it would be remembered by all who heard it. This hadith teaches us that we should respect our own lives and those of others; we should also respect other people's property and not take anything without permission or cause any harm or destruction to anyone else's land. We should also remember that Allah is always watching over us and will hold us accountable for our actions on the Day of Judgment.
