Expressing Gratitude to Allah

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would wake up in the morning and thank Allah for giving him life and reminding him of the Day of Resurrection.

It was narrated that Hudhaifah said: "Whenever the Messenger of Allah woke up in the morning, he would say: 'Al-hamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyana ba’dama amatana wa ilayhi’n-nushur (Praise is to Allah Who has given us life after taking it from us, and unto Him is the Resurrection).’"
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ، قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ إِذَا انْتَبَهَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ قَالَ ‏ "‏ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي أَحْيَانَا بَعْدَ مَا أَمَاتَنَا وَإِلَيْهِ النُّشُورُ

EXPLANATIONS:
Every morning, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would wake up and express his gratitude to Allah for giving him life after taking it away from us. He also reminded himself of the Day of Resurrection, which is when all people will be judged by their deeds on Earth. This hadith teaches us that we should always be thankful to Allah for all that He has given us, no matter how small or big it may seem. We should also remember that our actions on Earth will determine our fate in the afterlife, so we must strive to do good deeds every day.
