Glorifying Allah at Night

SUMMARY: The hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) praising Allah and glorifying Him.

Rabi’ah bin Ka’b Al-Aslami narrated that he used to spend the night outside the door of the Messenger of Allah , and he used to hear the Messenger of Allah saying at night: "Subhan Allahi Rabbil-'alamin (Glory is to Allah, the Lord of the worlds)," repeating that for a while, then he said: Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi (Glory and praise is to Allah)".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، أَنْبَأَنَا شَيْبَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، أَنَّ رَبِيعَةَ بْنَ كَعْبٍ الأَسْلَمِيَّ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّهُ، كَانَ يَبِيتُ عِنْدَ بَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ـ ـ وَكَانَ يَسْمَعُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ـ ـ يَقُولُ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ ‏"‏ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ الْهَوِيَّ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ ‏"‏ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَبِحَمْدِهِ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith speaks of the importance of praising and glorifying Allah during nighttime. It was narrated by Rabiah bin Kab Al-Aslami that he used to spend his nights outside the door of Prophet Muhammad's house and heard him saying "Subhan Allahi Rabbil-'alamin" which means "Glory is to Allah, the Lord of the worlds". He would repeat this phrase for a while before saying "Subhan Allahi wa bihamdihi" which means "Glory and praise is to Allah". This hadith teaches us that we should take advantage of nighttime as it is a time when we can focus on our worship and devotion to God. We should use this time to praise Him for His greatness, mercy, kindness, and all other blessings He has bestowed upon us. By doing so we will be able to increase our faith in Him as well as strengthen our relationship with Him.
