Seeking Refuge From Allah

SUMMARY: Seeking refuge from Allah from the evil of one's own actions and inactions.

It was narrated that Farwah bin Nawfal said: "I asked 'Aishah about a supplication that the Messenger of Allah (SAWS) used to say. She said that he used to say: 'Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min sharri ma 'amiltu, wa min sharri ma lam a'mal (O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the evil of that which I have done and the evil of that which I have not done)'."

QUICK LESSONS:
Seek help/refuge with Allah when faced with difficulties or wrongdoings on your part; Be mindful of your actions & inactions; Humble yourself before God when asking for His protection & guidance .

EXPLANATIONS:
The hadith narrated by Farwah bin Nawfal speaks about seeking refuge from Allah, the Almighty. It is a supplication that Prophet Muhammad (SAWS) used to say, which is “Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min sharri ma 'amiltu, wa min sharri ma lam a'mal”. This translates to “O Allah, I seek refuge with You from the evil of that which I have done and the evil of that which I have not done”. This supplication serves as an acknowledgement of our human nature and its weaknesses; it is an appeal to God for protection against our own wrongdoings or mistakes. It also serves as a reminder for us to be mindful of our actions and inactions so we can avoid doing anything wrong or sinful. In addition, this hadith teaches us about humility; it shows us how we should humble ourselves before God and ask for His protection against any wrongdoing on our part.
