Repaying Kindness to Parents

SUMMARY: A child cannot repay his father for the kindness and care he has provided, except by freeing a slave.

Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with them, narrated that: Allah's Messenger said: "No child can compensate his father unless he finds a slave, and buys him and sets him free".
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ لاَ يَجْزِي وَلَدٌ وَالِدَهُ إِلاَّ أَنْ يَجِدَهُ مَمْلُوكًا فَيَشْتَرِيَهُ فَيُعْتِقَهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the importance of repaying kindness to one's parents. It teaches us that no matter how much a child tries to repay their parents for all the love and care they have given them, it will never be enough. The only way a child can truly show their appreciation is by freeing a slave if they are able to do so. This hadith also highlights the importance of freedom and justice in Islam as slavery was abolished in Islam 1400 years ago. Furthermore, this hadith encourages us to treat our parents with respect and gratitude as they have done so much for us throughout our lives.
