QUICK LESSONS:
Take only what you need, be mindful of your consumption

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's practice of drinking a beverage called Nabidh. It was narrated by Ibn 'Abbas that the Prophet would drink this beverage on the same day or within three days. If there was any left over he would either throw it away or give orders to have it thrown away. This teaches us that we should not waste food or drinks and should only take what we need. We should also be mindful of our consumption and not take more than necessary as this can lead to wastage which is discouraged in Islam.
