Prohibition of Intoxicants

SUMMARY: Intoxicants are prohibited, even in small amounts.

It was narrated from 'Abdullah bin 'Umar that the Messenger of Allah said: "Every intoxicant is unlawful and whatever causes intoxication in large amounts, a small amount of it is (also) unlawful".
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو يَحْيَى، زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ مَنْظُورٍ عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ كُلُّ مُسْكِرٍ حَرَامٌ وَمَا أَسْكَرَ كَثِيرُهُ فَقَلِيلُهُ حَرَامٌ

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the prohibition of intoxicants. The Messenger of Allah said that every intoxicant is unlawful and whatever causes intoxication in large amounts, a small amount of it is also unlawful. This means that any substance which can cause intoxication or drunkenness, even if it's only a small amount, is prohibited and not allowed to be consumed. This includes alcohol and drugs as well as other substances which can cause intoxication or drunkenness. The Prophet Muhammad was teaching us to stay away from anything that could lead us astray from the right path and harm our health or wellbeing. He wanted us to live a life full of piety and righteousness so we can reach our highest potential in this world and the hereafter.
