Eating from the Sea

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) advised not to eat anything that rises to the surface of the sea.

It was narrated from Jabir bin 'Abdullah that the Messenger of Allah said: "Whatever the sea throws out or is left behind when the tide ebbs, eat it, but whatever rises to its surface, do not eat it.’"
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ الطَّائِفِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ أُمَيَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ ـ ‏ "‏ مَا أَلْقَى الْبَحْرُ أَوْ جَزَرَ عَنْهُ فَكُلُوهُ وَمَا مَاتَ فِيهِ فَطَفَا فَلاَ تَأْكُلُوهُ

EXPLANATIONS:
The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) taught us about what is permissible and impermissible when it comes to eating from the sea. He said that whatever is thrown out or left behind by the tide can be eaten, but whatever rises to its surface should not be eaten. This hadith teaches us about being mindful of what we consume and how we should take care of our health. It also reminds us that Allah has provided us with a variety of foods, so we should be grateful for His blessings and use them in moderation. We should also remember that Allah knows best and has given us guidance on how to live our lives in accordance with His will.
