Sunan Ibn Majah 3179 (Book 27, Hadith 18) #32533
Skinning Animals and Prayer Without Wudu

SUMMARY: The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) showed a boy how to skin a sheep and then went on to lead the people in prayer without performing wudu.

It was narrated from Abu Sa’eed Al-Khudri that the Messenger of Allah passed by a boy who was skinning a sheep. The Messenger of Allah said to him: "Step aside and I will show you how". The Messenger of Allah put his hand between the skin and the flesh, and thrust his arm in until it disappeared up to the armpit, and said: "O boy, this is how you skin it". Then he went and led the people in prayer and did not perform Wudu’.

EXPLANATIONS:
This hadith is about the Prophet Muhammad's demonstration of how to skin an animal, followed by his leading of the people in prayer without performing wudu. This hadith teaches us that it is permissible for one to lead others in prayer without having performed wudu, as long as they do not touch any part of their body that would require them to perform wudu. It also teaches us that it is important for us to be knowledgeable about our religion and its teachings, so we can teach others what we know. Furthermore, this hadith shows us the importance of being kind and patient with those who are learning something new or unfamiliar. The Prophet Muhammad was willing to take time out of his day to show someone else how something should be done properly, even though he himself did not need such instruction.
